Between 1916 and 1919, however, he produced a substantial body of work while serving as an officer in the Royal Artillery during World War One – much of which has never been seen until now. Shepard was best known for his beautiful work on AA Milne’s Winnie the Pooh series and Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows, as well as his cartoons for satirical magazine Punch. ![]()
